The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Johannesburg is reporting that they’re investigating the body of a dead baby at the school in cooperation with the local police.

Beeld newspaper reported that the baby’s body was found in a plastic bag filled with bloodied clothes after the girl was taken to the hospital.

Police in Johannesburg, South Africa, confirmed that a 17-year-old student at the school gave birth to the baby and that it was found dead, but refused to indicate whether foul play was involved or if it had died of natural causes.

Police Captain Shado Mashobane was quoted as saying, “Yes, the girl gave birth to the baby at the school, but we can’t confirm what happened to it. A case of concealment of death is being investigated….”
