When The Donors Start Pulling Out slowly.. Tanzania

Start living on your own...

Tanzania is bracing for a tough year ahead following a decision by one of its key donors, the Netherlands, to cut its funding for 2011/2012 financial budget two weeks to unveiling the national budget.Netherlands government will reduce its budget support to Tanzania and other countries by 12 per cent despite its commitment last year that aid to Tanzania would not be reduced.

A letter from the Netherlands cabinet to the House of Representatives said bilateral assistance to the ex-partner countries will be phased out with due care.
Minister for European Affairs and International Cooperation, Ben Knapen, said opportunities were identified for pursuing the spearheads of policy and for this purpose a quick scan of each of the 33 current partner countries was carried out, to see where these opportunities presented themselves and where the Netherlands had something to offer.
In short. they're looking at places where their donations *whispers* Dont get stolen!
Take note: During the financial year 2008 the Dutch government offered $97 million while in 2009 Tanzania received $52 million and in 2010 Tanzania received $66 million

Pubs Bar African nationals in Bangalore

Sad to hear from an urban lively city like Bangalore
Pubs and bars in Bangalore are denying entry to nationals from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and other African countries citing security reasons, as the common belief is that all ebony-skinned people are 'drug peddlers', 'scamsters' and 'trouble makers'. Bangalore has a sizeable student population  from the African continent - 20-somethings from countries as diverse as Cameroon and Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania. However, at most of the city's hep clubs, all dark-skinned people are strangely 'Nigerians' and to be avoided, though they don't say it out aloud. At most of these bars and pubs, blacks are generally frowned upon. In most cases, a group of black males, unaccompanied by women gets responses varying from a polite - "sorry, prior reservation needed" to the outright rude - "please leave".
At one of the sports bars, which had the most number of complaints, the head of marketing said it was "security reasons" and not racism that made them discourage blacks from coming. Besides, the bar's other clients were uncomfortable with black-skinned people around, he said.

According to the news last night... Action has been taken on these pubs after an outrage.
